Sabrina Keyes / Sponsor Gatherer

Sabrina lives in the beautiful city of Saint John, NB. She has always had an appreciation of art, and was inspired to start painting in 2013. Even though Sabrina enjoys using various mediums, she prefers acrylic. She paints many subjects however really enjoys letting loose by creating colourful abstract pieces. How art connects people who may not have connected otherwise is something that Sabrina finds incredibly fascinating. She believes that art is a subjective journey that doesn’t necessarily have to have rules or a road map. One day she would like to open a gallery that is inclusive of new local artists who have no educational background in art. She believes those artists deserve a platform as they have a lot to offer the art world.Sabrina is grateful for everyone who has supported, encouraged and been part of her artistic journey. Although art is better seen in person, Astound Art by Sabrina is currently available to view on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Adrian Nadeau

After a serious illness in 2012, art and I discovered one another. I believe art is a very healing and relaxing activity. I've been studying new disciplines of art since that time and I love every minute of it!

My journey began doing sketches and drawings and then moved on to acrylic abstracts. I feel my work is refreshing and positively influences the spaces where my clients choose to display them.

I look forward to growing my love of art in several different directions - creating, learning, teaching, and inspiring, and hope to continue working with amazing people as I continue my journey through life and art!
satisfaction.

Brenda Sommerville

My love for art began when I was in grade 4 and I came in 3rdplace in an Art Poster Contest that was province wide. I can still recall the thrill    at that age to have my painting hung in a museum for a week!

My life took various twists and turns and I found myself living in Vancouver for about 30 years. Raising two children on my own, often working 2 and sometimes 3 jobs at a time, sadly art took a back seat in my life. Now, retired after 45 years in retail, I have found my love for art has re-surfaced with a vengeance. I am very excited to begin this new chapter in my life, learning new techniques and developing new friendships along the way

Ed Coleman

Ed is a man who lives by colours. Bright ones. He is a visual artist residing in Saint John, New Brunswick, and his signature style using vivid colours and broad brushstrokes has become recognizable by many. Ed paints scenes of nature and water as well as cityscapes using lots of paint, mostly oil but some acrylic. He thrives on creating while outdoors, down the coast on a sailboat if possible. There is a freshness to his work, almost as if he was able to capture the breeze and sunlight he felt while painting. That elusive vitality is what draws people, so much so that he easily sells his work right on the wharf where it was painted. - Read more at: Createdhere.ca

Born and raised in Saint John, New Brunswick, Gayle lived out West for a number of years. She was always amazed at the wonderful blending of colours in nature, as well as the diversity of different regions in Canada.

In the early 90's Tole painting became very popular. She tole painted for a couple of years, but it was not enough. Years later, Gayle was invited to join the Fundy Gallery of Art in Saint John. After having several painting sessions, the passion and the forgotten skills returned. Now retired, she has a new perspective of her life and a renewed awareness of her surroundings.

Gayle enjoys learning and is always trying to improve her painting skills. She is a member of the Fundy Gallery of Art and the Saint John Art Club.

Jill Breen

She is fond of bright colours and intricate designs; the brighter, the better! She studied IB art at Saint John High school and had her first show at the Saint John Arts Center with her fellow students in April of 2008. It wasn’t until her first two years of University that Jillian decided to take her art seriously after she was asked to design a tattoo, along with a few commission pieces.

After having her sketchbooks and acrylic work looked at by numerous professionals and art enthusiasts, she learned that her abstracts were more appealing as they were something that many have not seen before. The detail, colour, and intricacy of each piece are what drew an audience to her work.

In early 2012, Ms Breen had her first debut/ solo art show Spontaneous at the Millennium art place at the Saint John Free Public Library, and in the fall of 2012, she was published in Rebecca Cuevas’ book of poetry Fire and Ice.

Shortly after the publication, she was asked by the Lorenzo Society of New Brunswick to be part of their Arts series. Her first professional show See Sound held at UNBSJ was sold out within 45 minutes of opening in the winter of 2013.

Jillian is currently concentrating on her hand portraits which became popular when she was living in China. She has also been asked to instruct numerous Canvas & Cocktail events and has been hired by local shops to do different types of commission pieces, including window murals.

There are no current shows lined up, but she is looking forward to whatever comes her way in the future.

Kalen Capson

Kalen, was born far from the ocean in a barren land and posted here against his will at a young age. He feels he can now safely call himself a true Saint Johner. He developed a true love for the arts early in life, and he has spent many an hour honing his mostly underdeveloped artistic ability. While he might have a long way to go, he still enjoys his attempts at transcribing the loftier realms of his headspace into something for others to experience. Loving the sense of community he has come to see and enjoy in Saint John as he has grown up. Kalen stated, “how could I pass up the opportunity to partake in it, even in some little way. Thanks for the chance to join in on the fun”.

Kalyn Frampton

I am a typical busy mom with two beautiful daughters and for a long time did not even pick up a paintbrush, saying to myself 'i just don't have the time.'Luckily I had a friend who encouraged me to get back into drawing and painting and I have not looked back since then. It brings me joy to create something from a blank canvas. I paint for myself for the sheer joy of it and hope you enjoy what I've created today.

Her work is collected across Canada and in the US, and recently, several of her works were purchased for installation at local schools through the Canada 150 Art Acquisition Program. Though Kelley finally considers herself to be an artist, she hopes to never grow up, as she hears it's overrated.

Letisha Betteridge

What draws her to art is being able to show how you see the beauty in everyday objects. You can enlarge things and focus a main focal point on what you want people to initially focus on and see your vision. The artist that has influenced her the most would have to be Georgia O'Keefe with her magnified paintings of flowers

"I began experimenting with art as a young adult using pencil. I enjoy pencil, pencil crayon, acrylics, alcohol inks and most recently oil. It’s my hope that my art evokes in the viewer a sense of the mystery within themselves and that which surrounds them."

Stephen Ward

My name is Stephen Ward. I am 25 and grew up on a reservation up north. I started painting when I was 17 and have ventured into a few different styles, but if I had to describe my current form of expression it would a bio influenced abstract. I work primarily with oil paint. I grew up in a poor environment, and became a single father young. My only real way I learned to express properly was painting. Not all my art can be considered beautiful, nor would I want it to be. Some emotions and experiences shouldn't be beautiful, but I believe it is understood. I would rather speak to someone through art than draw a pretty picture.

Susan Wall

Susan Wall is a life-long resident of Saint John, who always knew painting would be part of her life. Susan paints in acrylics, mostly, with a new found love of oils and a few watercolors for good measure with a healthy mix of realism and impressionism. Subjects are quite eclectic, including everything from landscapes to pets (a large portion of what she does is pet portraits). Susan thanks all those who support her in her art and hopes that more will enjoy what she does.
